Laura Rushing Stewart
She works hard for the money!
Laura Rushing Stewart, a member of the Milan High School Class of 1964, has served voluntarily as the treasurer for the Milan High School Alumni Association for thirteen years.
For her dedication and untiring efforts, she is the 1999 honoree of the alumni organization.
Born September 15, 1946, Laura Rushing attended the Milan schools and played basketball, serving co-captain of her team her senior year. She graduated from Milan High School in '64 with an honors diploma. She furthered her education by attending the West Tennessee Business College in Jackson and later completed a two-year course presented by the Tennessee Young Bankers Association at Vanderbilt University, Nashville.
She began a banking career in June, 1965 with Farmers-Peoples Bank. She held the position as Assistant Vice President and Branch Service Manager for First American National Bank from February 1988 through February 1998. While employed at First American, she served as coordinator for numerous United Way campaigns, headed blood drives and was captain of a team in the 1997 Relay For Life fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society.
Her husband, Dale is a 1958 graduate of Milan High School. Their daughter, Ashley is a junior at MHS and member of the Lady Bulldogs basketball team.
Laura, Dale and Ashley are members of the First United Methodist Church in Milan.
