Marcelle Stevens Moore

Marcelle Stevens Moore

Marcelle Stevens Moore entered the Milan school system in 1950, enrolling in the third grade with Miss Reba Bell as her teacher.  She graduated from Milan High School in 1960 with an honors diploma.  While in high school, Marcelle was active in the Beta Club, newspaper staff and Student Council.  She served as an officer in FHA and FTA.

Marcelle furthered her education at West Tennessee Business College and Jackson State Community College and earned various banking certificates during her 21-year career with First American National Bank of Milan.  Presently she is employed as litigation clerk for the Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Trustee in Jackson, Tenn..

In 1961, Marcelle married Ralph Moore of Lexington.  They have always made their home in Milan.  Their two daughters, Cindy Ford and Lianne Beard, are both MHS grads.  Their four grandchildren, Zach and Logan Ford, and Hudson and Chandler Beard, all are enrolled in the Milan school system.  Consequently, the Milan Special School District holds a special place in Marcelle’s heart even today.

Marcelle and her family are active members of the Milan First Baptist Church.  She and Ralph serve as co-directors of the Adult 4 Sunday School Dept., and she sings in the Adult Choir.  She has served the Adult Choir as president, secretary and treasurer and has taught children’s Sunday school classes.  She has also been active in contribution campaigns for the March of Dimes, the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.  Her hobbies include reading, cross-stitching and fishing.

Because of Marcelle’s voluntary service to you, the Milan High School Alumni Association for 19 years, we salute her on this Alumni Day.  She has served previously as your Associate Secretary and is currently Secretary of MHSAA.

Following in the footsteps of longtime, alumni secretary Lurla B. Keith is a big challenge, Marcelle says, adding, “If you haven’t paid your alumni dues or sent an address correction or name change, shame on you!”
