Graduates of Milan High School planning to attend this year’s Alumni Day reunion Saturday June 16 are urged to mail in their dinner reservations as soon as possible.
Letters with detachable reservation forms and an addressed envelope were mailed to approximately 6,000 alumni members in March. The forms can be mailed to the Milan High School Alumni Association at P.O. Box 223; Milan, TN 38358.
No advanced payment for the meal is required. Alumni officials said the caterer needs a more accurate estimate of the number of people who plan to attend the banquet meal June 16.
Approximately 320 people attended the banquet last year, but the number of people attending class reunions and the assembly meeting in the gym was believed to be higher.
The alumni association also requests
that graduates report changes in mailing addresses.
For information or to report a change of address or email jmark_1@charter.net
or diannept@hotmail.com.
Longtime alumni executive secretary Marcelle Moore is resigning from her position but will remain on the alumni board. Ms. Moore said in a letter that she enjoyed her tenure as secretary. She has been a leader the past several years in maintaining address information on thousands of Milan graduates.
Dianne Price Thompson, a 1965 graduate, was elected by the alumni board as the new secretary for the association.
Alumni Day activities June 16 will begin with the Open House and registration in the high school lobby at 3:30 p.m. The alumni office room is open for visitation. The general assembly and business meeting is held at 6:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m. special classes go through the buffet line and on to private rooms for their meal and reuniting with former classmates. Other alumni members eat in the cafeteria.
The association will pay tribute this year to two 1967 graduates, Glenda Houston Hughes and Lacee Jacobs Mallard. Both have served as educators and principals in the Milan school system.
Graduating classes observing special anniversaries this year are the classes of 1997, 1987, 1982, 1977, 1972, 1967, 1962, 1957, 1952, 1947, and 1942.
